Three Time Management Tips to Help You Get the Most Out of Your Day

Ever wonder how some people seem to fit so many activities into just 24 hours? These types of people have mastered the art of time management. We’ve rounded up the top three time management tips we’ve learned over the years to help you become an expert in making the most of your time every single day.

  1. Use a to-do list. One of the simplest ways to start effectively managing your time is by using a to-do list. Start each day by writing down all of the tasks you need to accomplish, no matter how small or large they may be. If you can, group tasks together depending on how long you know they’ll take. Don’t forget to cross off items as you complete them —  there’s no better feeling than making a big cross through a task, and you’ll be able to easily track your progress on your list. You’ll feel so much more motivated when you’re able to clearly see what you’ve already accomplished and what work still needs to be done.
  2. Set a time limit. Carve out how much time each task will take you and set a time limit to that activity. If you know it’ll take you 2 hours to complete a presentation you’ve been working on and you plan to start working on it at 1pm, give yourself a specific time you need to finish it by. Knowing that you have until 3pm to finish your project will keep you on task and help you stay motivated to get the job done.
  3. Say “no.” It’s easy to overcommit yourself to taking on too much work, and sometimes you might not have time for it all. If you know that you have a busy day, set boundaries and say no to work you know you don’t have the bandwidth to complete. Although it might be hard to see someone else do tasks that you typically work on, try delegating projects to someone else that you know has time to execute them to lessen your workload and save you some time.

What’s the Difference Between an Assortment and a Proposal?

As you go through your BOSS Logics Live account, you’ll see that Assortments and Proposals are two of the most important and frequently used features on the platform. If you’re feeling confused about what Assortments and Proposals are, or if you’re wondering what the difference is between them, you’ve come to the right place.

Let’s start with Assortments. Assortments are a grouping of specific products to be used during presentations. They’re a way to share the same collection of products with multiple clients, and they’re particularly useful for new releases, full collections, or affiliations. You might create an Assortment to showcase your Fall Seasonal release or to present your Valentine’s Day Collection to various groups of clients. Assortments can either be used company-wide by any associates who are either viewing the Product Gallery and hosting appointments, or they can be set to private so they’re only used by the person who created them.

Next up, a Proposal is a collection of product offerings created by an appointment host that is associated with and presented to a specific client. A Proposal contains information like notes, product quantities, and sentiments, and can be sent to clients via email or downloaded as a CSV file. Hosts can create multiple Proposals for the same client depending on their needs and interests, and during appointments, hosts can toggle between allowing the client to view the Proposal and keeping it hidden. During appointments, hosts can switch to view different Proposals that have been created for their client or start an entirely new Proposal. Hosts can also select to Collaborate with their client on their Proposal —  clicking the Collaborate button on a Proposal pushes the Proposal to the client’s screen so they can add their own notes and adjust product quantities. Purchase Orders can also be created from Proposals. A host can click the Purchase Order button to begin the checkout process.

To put it simply, while Assortments and Proposals are both used during appointments, Assortments are used to showcase a group of products to various clients, while a Proposal is a selection of products individually curated for different clients. Both features are designed to help enhance your meetings and ensure you successfully connect and sell to your clients.

How To Use Digital Transformation To Take Your Company To The Next Level

Zach Lipsky, founder and President of BOSS Logics recently sat down with Authority Magazine to talk about Digital Transformation and how BOSS Logics Live is reshaping meetings within the jewelry industry. Read below for an excerpt of the interview and check out the full interview here.

Thank you so much for joining us in this interview series.  Before we dive in, our readers would love to “get to know you” a bit better. Can you tell us a bit about your ‘backstory’ and how you got started?

Thanks so much for having me! I’m excited to be part of this series. It all started in 1998 when I was 17 —  the Internet was starting to become more widely used and I was a bored teen at home who wanted to get involved in the tech boom. I started creating websites for small companies and had an “aha” moment that I could make a business out of this, which I grew through my college years. Eventually, this small business turned into BOSS Logics. We started as a digital agency and over time, we gradually evolved into a software company with a focus on automating and streamlining the way companies create and manage products. Last year at the beginning of the pandemic, I realized there was a gap in the market as businesses started to use video conferencing platforms for virtual sales meetings. I wanted to help businesses pivot their sales approach and knew we had the capabilities to change the way businesses connect and engage with their customers, which led to our latest solution, BOSS Logics Live.

Thank you for all that. Let’s now turn to the main focus of our discussion about Digital Transformation. For the benefit of our readers, can you help explain what exactly Digital Transformation means? On a practical level what does it look like to engage in a Digital Transformation?

In today’s world, new technologies are emerging every single day, and it can be challenging for businesses to keep up. Digital Transformation means taking advantage of these new technologies to enhance your already existing business practices in order to meet changing demands and customer expectations. Digital Transformation might be anything from going paperless to integrating new point-of-sales technology. At the end of the day, it’s about the importance of being flexible and ready to grow and adapt to keep up with your customers’ needs as new technologies emerge.

Here is the primary question of our discussion. Based on your experience and success, what are “Five Ways a Company Can Use Digital Transformation To Take It To The Next Level”? Please share a story or an example for each.

There are so many ways a company can use Digital Transformation to take it to the next level so it’s tough to pick just five. Here are my top tips:

  1. Use Digital Transformation to not only foster new connections but also to improve the connections you already have. Ditch your snail mail advertisements and upgrade to an entirely digital presence. Take advantage of the social media boom and engage with your customers on their favorite social channels —  it’s now easier than ever to keep in touch with more frequent and concise digital communication. These small acts help strengthen the customer’s relationship with your company and cultivate a lasting connection that can help increase future business.
  2. Change the way you’re selling to your customers to adapt to their needs. In today’s world, staying at home is the new normal — if your business is based on selling products in-person, create an online store so your customers can shop from the comfort of their homes.
  3. What’s better than getting ahead of the competition? The key to staying ahead is using Digital Transformation —  gather customer data to create targeted ads tailored to specific groups of customers to keep them interested in learning more about your business. Use this data to enhance your customers’ experience.
  4. Going off of that, Digital Transformation can take your company to the next level because there’s more of an emphasis on the customer. If your business is based on making personal connections with your customers, consider setting up regular video conferences to check-in and reinforce your already existing connection, automatically taking your business up a notch as you prioritize the customer.
  5. One of the best ways Digital Transformation can enhance a company’s business practices is by reducing costs. If you have a product inventory, use the customer data you’ve gathered to understand buying trends and save money by only keeping inventory that’s known to sell.

The Real Difference Between BOSS Logics Live and Zoom

Did you ever think you’d be spending this much time on video chats? We definitely didn’t! With the video chat boom taking over our computer cameras, it’s hard to keep track of which platform offers which features. So, what’s the real difference between BOSS Logics Live and Zoom? We’re here to help you get to the bottom of this and show you what makes us stand out from the competition.

BOSS Logics Live is an entirely interactive experience. Associates and customers can see each other at the top of the screen and simultaneously view a brand’s entire product gallery below. Want to know the best part? Associates and customers can even track each other’s movements and see what the other party is currently looking at —  similar to working collaboratively on a Google Doc.

Speaking of your product gallery, when a brand sets up their account they’ll have the chance to import their entire product gallery into the platform, including product information like price, style number, description, and more. Brands can upload high-resolution images and 360 degree views of products for a more realistic feel.

During appointments, brands can showcase their product gallery in a branded, virtual showroom. Users can import their logo and customize both the background and header colors to represent their brand. BOSS Logics Live users can also upload assets and media like HD quality videos to supplement their presentation.

Best Practices for Sound and Lighting During a Video Call

Since we’re spending more time than ever interacting with friends and colleagues on our computers, it’s important to know how to look and sound our best while on a video call! Read on for our best sound and lighting tips.

Lighting

  1. Sit facing a light source. If possible, sit facing the window, desk lamp, or other light source to ensure your face is well illuminated and clearly visible. Sitting with your back to a window or bright light source can negatively impact the quality of the video call by giving you a harsh silhouette effect.
  2. Create a Lighting Setup. Think of a clock: if you’re facing noon, try to position light sources at 11 and 2.
  3. Choose Bright Colors for Walls. Sit somewhere with white or light-colored walls to brighten up the room with reflected light —  brighter surfaces reflect light, whereas darker surfaces absorb it.
  4. Use the Right Amount of Light. It’s important that there is plenty of light in the room to get maximum clarity, however, it’s possible to have too much light. If your window is too bright, lower the blinds or move away from the window to avoid overexposure. If a light source like a lamp is too bright, walk it away from you or dim it with a shade. If possible, use multiple light sources pointed at your face to fill in shadows and make the overall room lighting as even as possible.
  5. If all else fails, consider purchasing a ring light —  influencers use them for a reason! Ring lights provide even light onto their subject while reducing shadows and minimizing blemishes.

Sound

  1. Check your audio settings before a meeting begins to make sure they’re set properly. Try testing your audio to make sure your friends and coworkers can hear you when you enter the meeting.
  2. Sit somewhere quiet so your microphone doesn’t pick up on other people or any background noise.
  3. Going off of that, if you know you won’t be speaking, mute your microphone so it doesn’t  pick up on any noise.
  4. Try using ear buds rather than your computer’s speakers and microphone. Generally, any external earbud and microphone won’t pick up on unwanted noise, producing stronger quality audio.

The Story Behind BOSS Logics and How BOSS Logics Live Came to Fruition

Ever wonder how BOSS Logics came to be? Today we’re back to tell you our origin story and give you some background on the company and founder Zach Lispky.

It all started in 1998 —  Zach founded BOSS Logics as a full-service digital and creative agency, delivering engaging and interactive brand experiences for some of the world’s leaders in fashion, jewelry, and retail. Under Zach’s vision and leadership, BOSS Logics evolved into a software company with a focus on automating and streamlining the way companies create and manage products

In March of 2020, amidst ongoing business changes, the BOSS Logics team realized there was a gap in the market for selling online, as businesses in the jewelry industry started to use video conferencing platforms for virtual sales meetings. The team was up for the challenge to create an entirely new platform to help vendors and retailers create personalized brand experiences that would enhance their sales, so they geared up and got to work.

In a matter of weeks, the team had the concept for BOSS Logics Live ready to go and began developing the platform, creating a virtual tool that would revolutionize the way vendors and retailers sell. Originally named together by BOSS, the platform connects sales associates and their customers in interactive virtual meetings while showcasing high-resolution images and  360 degree views of products. Gone were the days of screen sharing and crowded Zoom meetings —  BOSS Logics Live simplified the virtual selling experience into one cohesive platform, enabling both parties to track each other’s movements and view individually curated product assortments all while video conferencing at the top of the screen.

By June 2020, BOSS Logics Live successfully launched —  since its launch, the platform has been widely received by vendors and retailers alike. In August 2020, BOSS Logics partnered with the Leading Jewelers Guild trade show to provide vendors with a virtual sales experience, and with The Plumb Club on their TPC-365 initiative, welcoming members onto the platform. In October 2020, David Yurman hosted their Fall Market Week online for the first time, using BOSS Logics Live for the entirety of the event.
